Funded project SensFloor (2009 - 2013)

German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) funded project SensFloor - "Support and safety for an independent life"

Continued success in extending life through health care and shifts in the age structure of the population will lead to many more people reaching older ages than ever before. In 2035 more than half of the German population will be older than 50 years and about a third will be over 60. A growing number of systems based on microsystem and communication technology supports and assists the elderly in their individual environments. Intelligent devices and services allow for an independent and self-determined life at home and support communication within the social environment.

Lead by Future-Shape and funded by the German Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) in the framework “Microsystems 2004-2009” under the project executing organisation VDI/VDE, an assistance system was developed which meets the aforementioned requirements. This three-years project with the number FKZ 16SV393X is called SensFloor.
